Engaging the 21st century students in ICT

Karen has extensive experience as a teacher in secondary
schools in NSW. She was Manager Languages in Curriculum K-12 Directorate
for a number of years before moving to the Centre for Learning Innovation
as Assistant Director Learning Design and Services.
Karen has been leading
the development of innovative multimedia resources that engage and
motivate students since the mid 90s. At CLI she has led a number of trials
of
innovative approaches to teaching and learning including the successful
trial, in Western Sydney Region, of Connected Classes, one of the forerunners
to the Connected Classrooms initiative.
Projects she is currently managing
include support for the introduction of interactive whiteboards and
videoconferencing.

Engaging the 21st century students in ICT
The presentation will showcase innovative new resources and services that
support both students and teachers, particularly in relation to use of IWBs
and videoconferencing.
Outcomes:
Participants will gain awareness of and understanding of the range of resources
and services that can be used in classrooms to engage and motivate students.
